Anatomical fixed specimens is the preserving of human remains by treating them to prevent decomposition. The intention is to keep them suitable for medical and scientific purposes such as their use as anatomical specimens. The desired properties required for successful embalming or fixing of cadavers allows for long-term structural preservation of organs and tissues with minimal shrinkage or distortion. It also provides prevention of over-hardening, while maintaining flexibility and suppleness of internal organs. Our cadaveric tissue is provided through a nonprofit, non-transplant anatomical tissue bank accredited by The American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB). In order to honor the donor, fixed specimens are only accessible to medical or educational professionals.
